Mobile Paint Correction: Polishing Out Swirls and Haze

Paint correction is machine polishing that levels the clear coat so swirl marks, light scratches, haze and oxidation catch less light. A detailer works panel by panel with a dual-action polisher and graded compounds, and the result is a deeper, glossier finish. It is quoted by vehicle because the work depends on how the paint looks today.

Single-stage correction is part of the Signature package, which is planned at 6 to 7 hours for one detailer. Both single-stage and two-stage correction are also offered as quoted add-ons. Signature builds on the Premium package, so the car is washed, decontaminated and cleaned inside as well, and then finished with a paint sealant or synthetic wax.

Polishing needs power, so you provide an outdoor water tap and a standard outlet, and the detailer brings the polisher, lighting and the rest of the kit. Correction is also the step before a ceramic coating, which is why Signature is labelled ceramic-ready on the booking page.

What changes the price

Condition of the paint
Light swirls respond to a single stage. Heavier marking may call for two stages, and two-stage correction costs more.
Number of stages
Single-stage correction is included in Signature, while single-stage and two-stage correction as add-ons are quoted by vehicle.
Vehicle size
Packages are priced for sedans, SUVs and pickups or vans, with sports cars and trucks priced on demand.
Package or add-on
Signature bundles correction with the wash, interior and sealant. Correction added to another package is quoted on its own.
What follows
Choosing a ceramic coating afterward is quoted separately and adds to the total.

What a good quote spells out

  • Single-stage or two-stage correction, stated plainly
  • What the paint needs, in the detailer's words, rather than a generic promise
  • What result to expect on deeper scratches, which may lighten without disappearing
  • What protection is applied afterward, such as sealant, synthetic wax or a coating
  • The time estimate and what you need to provide: tap, outlet and room for two car spaces

Paint Correction: questions people ask

What is paint correction?

It is polishing that removes a thin layer of clear coat to level out swirl marks, haze and light scratches. A dual-action polisher with graded compounds does the work, panel by panel.

Is paint correction the same as a wax?

No. Wax or sealant adds a protective layer on top of the paint, while correction improves the paint surface itself. The Signature package does both: correction first, then a sealant or synthetic wax.

Can paint correction be done at a home driveway?

Yes. You provide an outdoor water tap and a standard outlet, and the detailer brings the polisher, lighting and the rest of the equipment.

How long does paint correction take?

The Signature package is planned at 6 to 7 hours for a single detailer. The detailer confirms the final time at the walk-around on arrival.
